Move Chicken Move

  • Level: Middle - High School
  • Topic: Muscle Physiology

Description: Students will learn about the movement and structure of muscles through activities involving examination of the chicken. Students will be able to tell the similarities and differences between a joint, a tendon, and a ligament, and locate blood vessels and nerves. They will also gain an understanding of how myoglobin and the mitochondria work in muscle fibers, understand the meaning of how muscles work in an antagonistic pair, and gain a better understanding of myosin and actin filaments.
