Framework
Two guiding principles provide a conceptual framework for designing APS education programs and developing resources.
“Six Star Science”
addresses six major tenets of science teaching, including student-centered instruction, valuing diversity, integrating technology, focusing on authentic assessments, utilizing current content, and reflecting on teaching and learning.
Frontiers promotes the effective implementation of state and national standards for K-12 content and pedagogy -- especially inquiry-based teaching, equity strategies, and technology use -- by middle and high school science teachers. The program’s
relationship to standards highlights its relevance and significance during this critical time of accountability.
