ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • LST Announcements Indiana LST Leader, Subah Packer, was the recipient of a Recognition Award for Commitment & Service to the ACS Project SEED Program in 2003. In 2005, Dr Packer celebrated her 10-year anniversary as a mentor to high school students who were Project SEED Scholars in her laboratory by hosting a SEED ReUnion Symposium http://www.indyprojectseed.com/.
    Packer was Selected for Inclusion in Academic Keys Who’s Who in Medical Sciences Education in 2004.
  • Dr. C. Subah Packer was featured as an HHMI Ask A Scientist Featured Q&A of the month. To read Dr. Packer’s answer to the question, “Since live skeletal muscle contains stored glycogen, how is it that meat has no caloric value assigned to carbohydrate?” go to GENERAL BIOLOGY.
  • George Potter graduated from the Indiana University School of Allied Health with his MS in Health Sciences Education. George used his APS Frontiers in Physiology Professional Development Fellowship work for his practicum to complete his master's degree. George wrote a reflection paper on the experience.
  • Steve Miller, PhD, has officially joined the Indiana LST as a scientist member. Steve was Kathy Madren's scientist host for her summer, 2006 RT experience. Steve is planning to visit Kathy's high school students in the classroom in the spring semester, 2007.
  • Elmer Sanders is a 2006-07 APS Frontiers in Physiology Professional Development Fellow.
    Mr. Sanders became the Summer Coordinator for Indy Project SEED in 2006.
  • William (Geof) Mahl is a 2006-07 APS Frontiers in Physiology Professional Development Fellow.
  • William (Bill) White was promoted from Head of the Science Department to Dean of the Technology Careers Academy (TCA) at Arsenal Technical High School in 2005.
  • In 2001, Dr. Suzuki received the Indiana University Trustees’ Teaching Award and was also named an Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) Diversity Ambassador.
